respecting and showing concern for other people, for animals, plants and for the world we live in.

I know these are words which are often used, but nevertheless they provide us now
more than ever before with the strength and direction to find the right way to fulfil our daily tasks.

20 years ago when we "dropped out", moved to the country and started to be self-sufficient we had no idea it would turn out to be the early beginnings of a high-tech production company.

We lived in a commune with our illusions of a better life,
with a few chickens and a beautiful garden.

The garden rewarded us for the loving care and attention we gave it by producing huge amounts of fruit and vegetables.

The rich harvest was more than we could manage and I couldn't help thinking back to my mother and her talent for bottling and preserving.
In no time we had come up with a few recipes and the experimental and creative years had begun.

We stopped eating meat and invented our first ever vegetarian sandwich spread.
Our onion spread was the first of its kind!

Produce which was originally just intended for our own and for our friends use soon found its way into the first organic food shops.

We invested in a bigger cooking pot and a better ladle for filling the jars. The labels were hand painted.

We even had to buy in a supply of fifty new jars because nobody we knew had any empty jam jars left. From now on there was no stopping us!

This was in 1979.

The market for organic foods was growing fast and we grew with it.
We bought our first semi-automatic machine and took on our first employee. That was in 1991.

We loved inventing new products and created
a selection of choice mustard specialities to complement
our ten varieties of sandwich spread.

The turnover increased, we took on more employees and
worked constantly on improving our product quality and
our brand presentation. We could already see that our
production facilities were soon going to be too small.

So we decided to create some more space and at the same time
include as many elements of sustainable industry
as were practicable.

Fun at work and a love of life can move mountains!

We planned for a year, we built for a year and in 1996 we moved in.

With sea on both sides, our new company premises in Silberstedt are right in between the North Sea and the Baltic, built on a green field site.

With environmentally friendly and energy saving technology.
